The Sunset Fairies -v0.10- -ethan Krautz- -

Version 0.11 never came.

There is a darker theory. In late 2022, a user named @SunsetGhost on X (formerly Twitter) claimed to be Krautz’s former roommate. They alleged that Krautz suffered from severe prosopagnosia (face blindness) and that the game’s faceless, blurry aesthetics were not stylistic choices but literal representations of how Krautz sees the world. The roommate claimed Krautz disappeared after a “memory episode” in which he couldn’t recognize his own reflection. Whether this is true or a creepypasta born from the game’s haunting aura remains unconfirmed. If you manage to find a copy of The Sunset Fairies -v0.10- -Ethan Krautz- (it occasionally resurfaces on archive.org and private game preservation forums), here is what you can expect in your first hour. The Sunset Fairies -v0.10- -Ethan Krautz-

Each fairy is tethered to a specific “fading memory”—a lost lullaby, a forgotten recipe, the name of a dead pet. To progress in version 0.10, you must follow the auditory cues, locate the fairy, and simply… sit. Holding down the ‘E’ key (or the Square button on a controller) allows your character to “Resonate.” The fairy will lower its guard, and a fragment of a pastel-colored cutscene—rendered in a 32-bit watercolor style—will play. Version 0

The core mechanic is deceptively simple: you hear them before you see them. A chime. A whisper. A child’s laugh carried on a synthetic wind. These are the Sunset Fairies. They are not captured or battled. Instead, Krautz’s design philosophy centers on witnessing . They alleged that Krautz suffered from severe prosopagnosia

Ethan Krautz gave us a version number that implies a future that will never come. He gave us fairies that don't want to be caught, only witnessed. And he gave us a sunset that never resolves into night.
