Employers must acknowledge the risks present and proactively try to prevent and address such incidents through comprehensive policies, to educate employees and foster a culture of security and mutual respect. Everyone deserves to feel these things in their workplace.

The scenario of an employee being sexually assaulted while sleeping on the job is particularly disturbing. This can happen in various settings, including offices, factories, and construction sites. Perpetrators often take advantage of their victims' vulnerability while they are asleep or in a state of reduced consciousness.

Workplace sexual violence is a form of gender-based violence that affects millions of people worldwide. It can take many forms, including unwanted touching, harassment, and rape. The Philippines has a significant number of reported cases, with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recording 1,374 cases of rape in 2020 alone. While not all of these cases occur in the workplace, a substantial number do.
