As the Professor struggles to understand the island's technology, she begins to experience strange visions and auditory hallucinations. "I'm hearing voices," she says to herself, "but are they my own thoughts or someone else's?"

The Skipper's confusion is exacerbated by the island's bizarre landscape, which seems to shift and change before his very eyes. One minute he's standing on solid ground, and the next, he's floating in mid-air.

One minute he's a man, and the next, he's a woman. One minute he's speaking in a deep, masculine voice, and the next, he's speaking in a high-pitched, feminine voice.

After a series of mishaps, including a disastrous navigation system and a catastrophic encounter with a group of hostile sea creatures, the S.S. Transgender finds itself shipwrecked on a mysterious island. As the crew members stumble out of the wreckage, they are greeted by a sign that reads, "Welcome to the Island of Confusion."
