Press the reset button (pinhole) near the SD card slot. Hold for 10 seconds until the screen flashes.
If you cannot find the disk, your final option is to send the unit to a specialist in California or Australia (like JDM Car Audio Solutions ) who can pre-flash the ROM via JTAG for $150. But that ruins the DIY spirit, doesn't it?
Check the bottom of your DRZ09 unit. Is there a small white sticker that says "ROM Ver 1.02"? If not, stop everything and find that installation disk now. Have you successfully installed a Carrozzeria DRZ09 using a burned DVD? Share your ISO checksum in the comments below.
After calibration, the disk writes 47MB of firmware to the internal flash. This takes 8 minutes. Do not touch the brake or open the door (vibration can brick the unit).
The DRZ09 will ask: "地域を選択してください" (Select region). You must select "Japan." If you select "Other," the unit will lock permanently and require a service center reset.
Connect the yellow (constant 12V), red (accessory), black (ground), and orange/white (VSS) wire. Without VSS, the gyro calibration will fail.
The unit will prompt: "ぐるぐる回ってください" (Please drive in circles). Find an empty parking lot. Drive in a slow, steady circle for 2 minutes, then a figure-8 for 3 minutes. Do not turn off the engine.
Insert the Carrozzeria AVIC DRZ09 Navigation-installation disk into the top slot. The screen will show: "Check disk... Do not eject."
